DSR formula
Divide total monthly debt commitments by net monthly income and multiply by 100. Use income after statutory deductions for this example.
Example with RM3,000 net income
With RM900 in monthly debt commitments, DSR is 30%. Adding a RM300 instalment brings total commitments to RM1,200 and raises DSR to 40%.
How to interpret the result
Include relevant bank and non-bank commitments. Lenders may define income and commitments differently and apply different DSR limits. Also check what remains after rent and essential expenses.
